Autopsy report: Thikra shot 26 times and survived for only 15 minutes A team of doctors, who examined the body of Tunisian singer Thikra, who was murdered by her husband, released a medical report after an autopsy was complete stating that she was shot with 26 bullets all over her body and had remained alive for only 15 minutes afterwards. The other two victims of the crime, Thikra’s secretary was shot 22 times and her business manager received 18 bullets before passing away.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Raya, the autopsy report also stated that Thikra’s husband, who committed suicide after killing the three victims, had shot himself by placing the gun in his mouth leading to his immediate death. It was also revealed that the gun used to kill the three victims is different from the one Thikra’s husband used on himself.
Thikra passed away Friday November 28, 2003, after her Egyptian husband, businessman Aiman Al Swaidi, shot her four times in their home in Cairo. Aiman had also shot Thikra’s secretary, business manager and then shot himself and committed suicide. The only eyewitness at the murder scene was Thikra’s made who stated that she had overheard the couple get into a massive fight and once she ran to see what was going on she was in shock to see the four dead bodies laying in the living room. Thikra’s had been married to Aiman, who is also her business sponsor, for some time. Four years ago, Aiman attempted to kill Thikra, but was only able to cause her blood to shed over disputes that remain a mystery and had filed a complaint against her forbidding her from entering Egypt.
Two days before her death, Thikra had released her latest album “Youm Alaik” (A Day On You), which consisted of a collection of Egyptian songs, which had been her style to perform in the recent period. A few months ago, the singer had for unknown reasons cancelled her tour around Tunisia and her participation in the Carthage Festival as was previously scheduled. The singer had already given her final approval to take part in the festival and July 26th was the scheduled date for her performance, but she pulled out at last minute without giving any justification.
Thekra had also cancelled all other concerts in Tunisia, making people wonder what may be the cause behind her sudden decision. It was added that this is the second time the singer pulls out of the festival after giving her final approval/agreement for unknown reasons.
Throughout her career Thekra released three Khaliji (Gulf) style albums with songs sung soley in the Gulf accent. The singer had worked extensively with a number of prominent Gulf poets and composers in order to choose the most appropriate songs for her releases.

Egyptian police: Letter found proves Thikra’s death was premeditated Thikra's coffin New evidence was revealed by the Egyptian police regarding Thikra’s murder by her late husband, who was responsible of the bloodshed that ended by his suicide leaving four bodies in the crime scene, proves that the incident was premeditated. The victims were his wife the prominent Tunisian singer Thikra, his business manager Amr Khuli and his wife Kadija Salah Aldin.
The new evidence changed the whole course of investigations, because it proved that the crime was planned beforehand and did not just happened because the late businessman was drunk as circulating rumors stated. According to the UAE based daily, Al Bayan, the police found a letter written by Sweidi to his brother, telling him that he is going to commit suicide and asked for his forgiveness. He also told him that he was able to withdraw 150 million EGP with the help of his business manager Amr Khuli, who was a former bank employee. The letter requested from Mohammed (the murderer’s brother) to smuggle all the money outside Egypt and sell all the land then flee outside the country.
In the letter, Aiman tells his brother that he had left him heaps of money in the company’s safe and left him the secret code to open it. He also left him many pieces of land throughout Egypt. The only request he wanted from his brother was regarding his first wife, former Moroccan belly dancer known as Lubna, wanting him to take good care of her and treat her well in addition to giving her any sum of money she asks for. The last request made by Thikra’s assassin was that he wanted to be buried at the family’s farm.
This new evidence proves that Sweidi had previously planned the crime, and asking his business manager and his wife to come to his house at a late hour was part of the plan to get rid of the three including his late wife Thikra.
The police also found in the safe, three thousand US Dollars, five thousand EGP, various valuable watches, and some gold pieces. The police decided seal the house until they finish their investigations.
With regards to the financial status of Aiman, inquiries revealed that he owes Egyptian banks including Egypt national bank and Alswies Canal bank 100 million EGP, and that he had stopped paying his debits two months ago.
Meanwhile, 49 Arab artists left Cairo earlier yesterday heading to Tunisia to participate in the funeral of Thikra and to deliver their deepest condolences to Thikra’s family. Among the artists were Farouq Fishawi, Elham Shahin, Hani Muhana, Salah Sharnoubi, Najwa Fuad, Izzat Abu Ouf, Dina, Hilmi Baker, Walid Tawfiq, Saber Ruba’I, Hameed Sha’ri, Dalia Buhairi, Shireen, and Hala Sarhan. The whole group talked about the good manners the late singer had and indicated that the death of Thikra is considered a great loss to the whole Arab world.
Thirka’s family had refused lately to bury the late singer in Cairo and made communications with Prince Walid Bin Talal to have her brought to Tunisia. The Prince rented a private plane to get the corpse back to Tunisia to be buried there.
