Traif Tactics: The rabbi of Gush Katif, Yosef Al Nakwa, revealed last week that, "Residents of Gush Katif decided to do something [about terrorism], and when we were busy evacuating the dead on Monday from the Kisufim-Gush Katif Road, they brought pigskin and lard with them and put it on the body of the terrorist." Rabbi Al Nakwa refused to say where the pigskin and lard came from, but did hint. "There is a right wing kibbutznik who supplies us with a stock of pigskin and lard," he said. "If the Palestinians are sure that the murder of Jews will bring the shahids to heaven, then the people of Gush Katif have decided to block the passage to heaven by means of pigskin and lard." Knesset Member Zvi Hendel (National Union-Yisrael Beiteinu), a resident of Gush Katif, said, "If these primitive murderers stuff their brains with worthless stories about the Paradise that awaits them and about who know how many virgins are there only for him, the suicide bomber, certainly they also believe in the other worthless idea, that being buried in the organs of a pig delays their entry into Paradise." However, Knesset Member Abdul Malik Dehamshe (United Arab List) responded, "The low level of morality that the settlers have reached is unbearable. This is a desecration of God of the first order, according to every religion, and it is especially shocking to think that a rabbi did such a thing." A second effort by settlers to place pigskin on the body of a terrorist was reported on Friday, although a police spokesperson dismissed the claim. On the other side of the spectrum, MK Tzvi Hendel said, "If these primitive murderers stuff their brains with nonsense about Paradise and who-knows-how-many virgins waiting only for them, then they certainly believe in the other nonsense that being buried with pigskin blocks their way to Paradise."
